Virtual Experience
via Zoom

Design fabric from your drawings after looking at beautiful Japanese stencils in the Museum’s collection. Make stamps of your pattern ideas to be assembled into a sample book of textile designs, with your favorites to be printed onto a length of cotton.

Virtual Camp Format:
Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 10
10:00 – 11:30 am

Due to the Museum's COVID-19 response, traditional in-person/group format camps are being replaced Summer Art Camp online, featuring four different themes and projects repeated for eight total weeks. The format includes a morning session lesson via Zoom, featuring some of SBMA's favorite and familiar Museum Teaching Artists and perhaps a surprise guest or two. If campers desire further support, individual "studio hours" are also available. Friends and siblings can join together, creating a virtual classroom.

The first 45 minutes of class, will be an introduction of the lesson for the day and demonstrations by the Teaching Artist.

The second 45 minutes of class, students will work on their art projects and the Teaching Artist will remain on Zoom with the class to answer any questions. One-on-one or family or friend group calls to the Teaching Artists for “studio hours”, questions and support can be made between 1-2pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Campers can contribute photos of their completed projects to the online community gallery, so that each week concludes with a virtual art show.

Camp Kits:
Upon registration, individualized "camp kits," including all project materials, will be available for curbside pick-up at the Ridley-Tree Education Center at McCormick House and the Franklin Neighborhood Center the Saturday before each camp begins. Alternatively, a list of project materials will also be sent to campers, in case they would like to use their own materials.
