SBMA’s fall Educator Open House introduces teachers to the special exhibitions and permanent collection on view during the 2022-2023 academic year. Starting at 4PM, join us for opening remarks in the Museum auditorium to hear about suggested themes and strategies for incorporating the visual arts into the classroom.

Explore how to make connections across the curriculum:

From the elements of art in the architectural collages of Marshall Brown, to the timeless stories and beliefs made visible in our newly reinstalled South East Asian and Himalayan Collection, to the powerful throughline of women in art from antiquity to the present—including a celebration of the art of Santa Barbara resident, Joan Tanner—to photography installations that explore the notion of time and timelessness, there are endless connections to discover.

After the presentation, wander the Museum to engage in hands-on art activities by our Museum Teaching Artists designed to be used with your students, tour the exhibitions on view, and pick up lesson plans, resources, and posters for your classroom.

And enjoy a glass of wine in the incomparable company of colleagues and great works of art.
