Chamber Music Concert: Verona Quartet

Thursday, March 21, 2024
7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Santa Barbara Museum of Art
Mary Craig Auditorium

Acclaimed as an “outstanding ensemble…cohesive yet full of temperament” (New York Times), the Verona Quartet has firmly established itself amongst the most distinguished ensembles on the chamber music scene today. The quartet received the Chamber Music America’s coveted 2020 Cleveland Quartet Award and has captivated audiences at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, and Wigmore Hall, as well as at numerous festivals worldwide.

A string quartet for the 21st century, the group champions the rich breadth of the string quartet repertoire from the time-honored canon through contemporary classics and its members are committed advocates of diverse programming. Notable commissions and premieres include works by composers Julia Adolphe and Texu Kim. Their newest album SHATTER reached #1 on the Billboard classical charts this summer. For their first performance at SBMA, they will perform Walton’s String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Texu Kim’s Ritus Sanitatem, and Dvorak’s String Quartet No. 14 in A-flat Major Op.105.

Chamber Music Concerts at SBMA are supported by the Katharine Putnam and Reginald M. Faletti Concert Fund with additional support from the Curletti Fund.
