Writing from Home (via Zoom)

Mondays, December 7 & 14
5:30 – 7 pm

Workshop
via Zoom

Local writers, working in a variety of genres and forms, meet with participants for two, 90-minute sessions during consecutive weeks. Each writer, inspired by a work(s) of art in the Museum’s collection, chooses the theme, format, and form for the workshop; allowing both the writers and participants maximum choice. Participants have an opportunity to also share their writing. Sign up for both sessions with one writer or sample across disciplines.

Theme
Truths we reveal by hiding: framing and metaphor in the craft of poetry (repeats November theme)

A picture reveals a carefully-curated aspect of a world that exists within and beyond its frame. This writing workshop examines ways to utilize language to draw focus, create tension and drama, or illuminate truths with the frame of a poem.

Inspiration images
Nell Campbell, Berry Bay, LA from the series, "Duck Blinds" (2003). Richard H. Ross, Ferry Stop, Jesolo, Italy from the series, "Gathering Light" (1990). Todd Hido, Untitled #3737 (2005).
