Due to the Museum's COVID-19 response, traditional in-person/group format camps are being replaced Summer Art Camp online, featuring four different themes and projects repeated for eight total weeks. The format includes a morning session lesson via Zoom, featuring some of SBMA's favorite and familiar Museum Teaching Artists and perhaps a surprise guest or two. If campers desire further support, individual "studio hours" are also available. Friends and siblings can join together, creating a virtual classroom.
Upon registration, individualized "camp kits," including all project materials, will be available for curbside pick-up at the Ridley-Tree Education Center at McCormick House and the Franklin Neighborhood Center the Saturday before each camp begins. Alternatively, a list of project materials will also be sent to campers, in case they would like to use their own materials
Campers can contribute photos of their completed projects to the online community gallery, so that each week concludes with a virtual art show.
